Defend From Grace

Description:
It's Valentin...

I don't much care for the background...may fix that.

Pay no attention to the empty voids or products of my general laziness.

That's quite incredible.

I love the swirly gnarls of his muscles, especially along his wings. But I'm just gobsmacked by your colouring - his skin looks like marble, it's quite beautiful. And despite the fact that his face stitched up and sprouting horns, it's quite easily believable.

I do believe you've mastered realism to the point where you can make an audience suspend their disbelief. Bravo.

Wow...that's a compliment and a half! Goodness, thank you so much!

Really motivates me to fix the crappy background, heh. :)
Report
... I wouldn't call the current background "crappy", but then I'd also be fascinated to see what you might come up with in place of it.
Report
Oh, I have something in mind. :)
The background as it is...it's just lazy. Didn't have a vision for it, thus I was unmotivated and impatient with it. "Bah, just slop in some black misty crap and hide the unmentionables...that'll do!" *scribble scribble*

It really annoys me now, heh. It undermines all the work I put into the demon dude.
Thanks again!
Report
Ooh, brilliant... I shall be standing by.

Heh - I think a lot of artists are guilty of choosing the lazy option when they're finishing off something so detailed. I guess it's usually a matter of stamina running out...

Kudos to you for finding the motivation to go back to it, though. Should be good...
Report
Maybe you are lazy (who's not ? ) but the result is great !
Report
Thank you!
Report
Dude, that turned out great.
And I see you figured out what hair color to use, which looks really good by the way.
There's so much to look at, all the little details and such.
And you know, I've been waiting to see this, kept checking on here to see if it was uploaded yet
Report
Heh, still not sure about the hair color, really...

Thank you!
Report
It looks good :)

Welcome ^^

I would personally like to see a few up-close shots at 100% resolution because I'm like that. I want to see the details to his amazing horns and the facial structure itself.
Report
You got it. Slapped up a closer view of his face.
Report
Er...sorry...I did, but now I've got something better in mind, hehe. I'll get some close-up shots and progress shots up soon.
Report
Oh wow. Simply stunning :O

Those blue things look like veins too or something, and give another sense he's really not form this world...
*still stunned at how unique yet good this looks*
Report
Thanks very much, bro!
Report
Oh snap! That is some beautiful coloring!
Report
Huzzah, thank you veddy much!
Report
This is amazing! The coloring is so organic and the effect of tattered wings is very appealing :)
Report
Gosh, thanks a lot, dude!
Report
That's some sweet coloring! :o Absolutely chilling to look at.
Report
Chilling? Wow, thank you!

Report
Crap!...he looks so damn good! Nice job.
Report
Thanks very much! :)

Amazing colouring, smexy pose, stunning muscles, awesome detailing
*stunned*
Report
Wow, thank you!
I'm quite happy with the anatomy and quality of this piece...just not so happy with the sheer...meaninglessness of it, heh. I'm working on some more drawings of Valentin that attempt to convey more mood and story.
Report
meaninglessness or not, it still gives a certain vibe of epic

... though more mood and story would probably add epic sprinkles of awesome...
Report
Epic sprinkles of awesome...YUS!

Thanks!

Man, I love your coloring. I like the subtle effects and shading, and the glowing blue markings on him...the wispy white lines around his wings look like spiderwebs...so it seems, if you look at that, that he's been "sleeping" for a long time, and is just now becoming animated again. And that would make sense, given the almost stony color of his skin. Kind of like if a gargoyle came to life and was getting ready to fly off somewhere...like that badass 90's cartoon.
He is extremely beautiful!
Report
Huzzah! Thank you very much!
I never really watched that cartoon...loved the Sega game, though! :)
Report
Ooh, you gotta see it. It was the most "adult" cartoon that was on back then, not counting Batman: The Animated Series (which also kicked so much ass it's surprising there's any ass left!). The most shocking thing about Gargoyles was that Disney made it. You'd never guess, except for maybe the animation style.
Report
Heh, I'll have to check it out!
I'm old, but I still love me some cartoons. It's one of the reasons the neighborhood children gravitate to my house. I pull out soda pop and junk food and we all sit around watching cartoons from my extensive DVD collection.
Yet I'm still referred to as The-Lady-Who-Flies-Helicopters, or The-Lady-Who-Draws-Good.

There is another submission in my gallery that shows even more detail...stuff that was lost when I reluctantly cut this picture down to less than half it's original size. :)
