This is really professional!

Ha! Well thankyou! But really, it's just messing about. I really enjoy drawing monsters & mythical beings, so I spend more time on those. :) Glad you liked it, and thanks for the fave.

I love the detail in this, I don't have the patience for that sort of detail so I respect it when I see it.

The only thing is the dragon is a little flat. I wouldn't suggest trying to fix it in this one but if you're going to do future works like this, I'd suggest easing off on the detail on the dragon a bit, it's a little bit overly busy to read well. The darkness of the wings particularly drags the eye off what the dragon is doing which should be the focus of the piece since it's the title.

You might want to study woodcut work to get an eye for creating work with this much detail which is flattish but not totally flat, your dragon unfortunately is suffering from being overly flat in this, particularly in the legs and neck, the head is quite well done though, if the rest of the body was as well done as the head, it would be one ace dragon.

I love the tree, it looks really gnarled and has good composition.

Thanks so much for the tip-- I'm not really an artist as such, I just play about with it for fun (though I did sell a few illos to horror-mags in my youth)-- so any info like that is gold to me. I see exactly what you mean, over-detailing has done it no favours.

I just got some new art materials today, so I'm all hyped to do some more, after many years' break, WHEE! *calms down now*

Anyone who does art is technically an artist. I think colour might pull it out a bit from the over detailing, I'd suggest doing it digitally rather than on the original.

Ooh lucky you.

OooOoooo I hadn't thought of colouring it. :( I'm extremely crap at computer things, though. Perhaps that's something I need to learn. =P

Thanks again!!!

Excellent work.  I really appreciate the time it takes to do something like this. I've watched my daughter at it and know what it entails.

Thanks so much (and sorry for a late reply). It really does take a long time, but it's relaxing for the most part. I'm working on a couple of new ones atm, it's great to be drawing again. :)

I can see how it would be relaxing, but it does seem like a lot of work.

yummmm

He's a cutie.

I really like this style of drawing. it makes me wanna try to do it for about one second till I realize how much work goes into something like that.

thanks for putting in all that work so I can enjoy it without having to do it myself 'tis beautifully drawn

ps I want a bigger full view so I can look closer at the details of how it is drawn...how big was the original?

Gorgeous. The flatness S-I pointed out is actually an effect I quite like, here... makes me think of old illustrations for folk tales! Was the effect deliberate, with details like the splaying of his wings?
