Question:
Can a nice guy be too nice?

Yes. Nice guys go overboard and it makes me wanna puke
0
Sometimes. There are times it's all right, and times it's not

A nice guy can never be too nice.

There are no "nice guys" left in this world anymore.

I'm not sure, and here's why..

This is the obligatory "other" that everyone wants so they can be noncommittal.

I try to be the nice guy, and I know I can go overboard sometimes, so I'll say...sometimes.
Report
On this one, I'm not non-committal...even though you know I love having that obligatory other option. No...on this one, my answer is sometimes. Sometimes even makes me wanna puke, depending on *how* nice...but not always.
Report
I know I can overdo it at times, and I am trying to learn...but it's not easy.

well i am a very lucky girl, ste is a total gentleman during the day, cuddly, kissy, and tells me how gorgeous i am a million times a day.  and at night hes a horny devil so i get the best of both worlds

i say be a gentleman, but know when the time is to be a bastard, even if it is only in the bedroom ;)  i'm a girl, i know!

i think its very much similar to the old saying every man wants "an angel in the kitchen & a whore in the bedroom"
Report

I'm not saying how I am in the bedroom one way or the other, but then...you have seen my pillow.

i shoulda known

Usually no, sometimes yes. There's always that odd situation where being a "nice guy" would be inappropriate, but that's rare, in my opinion.
Report
Well, I have been known to find that "odd situation".
Trust me on that one.
Report
You sound like you're sure.
Report
Cool.

I choose sometimes. Most nice guys are just nice but there are a few which can really go over their head in a rather annoying way .
Report
I've done that in the past...go over their head, as it were...but I try and learn from my mistakes.
Report
Good I don't know you but I would think you are on eof the better ones
Report
Another vote for "sometimes". But hey, better that than the opposite :)
Report
Agreed.
Report
Only sometimes?
Report
Yep - There are times it's alright and times it's not.   I've seen a lot of young women take niceness as sign of weakness and use it to get whatever they can.  Personally, if someone is too nice, I get suspicious of their motives. There is a difference between being nice and having manners.
Report
i think it better to be too nice than say, too violent

It's not an issue of "Nice" or "Too Nice."

For me ~ it's more like "Is he self-actualized/secure enough to treat others with the same amount of respect he expects from others ~ & can he take care of himself enough *first* to act out of consideration for others~ without solely seeking validation through these acts."

The later I consider weak. & I tend to disengage socially from these men ~ because then *MY* role has to become that of the constant nurturer...Which I do well~ very well~ to thr point where I compromise myself fullfilling the expectations of others ~ & in a *relationship* when both parties are so busy fullfilling the expectations of others that they forget to be authentically themselves~ thats when you end up feeling mre alone *together* ~ than you do apart.

...& let me tell you, bother...THAT is the end of romance. No fun. None whatsoever.

Report
Hmm.  Interesting.

I can see what you mean.  It's not enough to be giving, but to be secure enough with yourself to give and not expect anything in return, or else you're just needing more and more, so you give more and more.

Fascinating...
Report
Yes~ that *was* a more succint version

*lawl* You're better at that

....& another big piece of it ~ is taking care of yourself properly enough in the first place ( as that is the only thing you *CAN* control, really ) to be able to extend yourself to others when you see a need or have occaiion to help...Rather than taking care of yourself *last* ( I tend to do it too) ~ because then you just end up depleted & frustrated ~ & feel taken advantage of ....( & often ~ if I may~ a bit "invisible" ~ because ppls expectations of you just become that you'll be there when THEY need it...& soon no one can see yououtside of THAT ROLE ~ no matter how many fawcets to the truth of your actual *personhood* there may be.)

:twocents:

Nice? What's that? =P

Damned if I know.

Personally, in this age of meanness and crap manners and everyone being in it for themselves... nice guys that go overboard are a nice blast of fresh air.
Report
I said sometimes. There was this kid when I was younger, the nicest guy, but he was just too nice. When he asked me if I'd be his girlfriend, I just had to turn him down...because sometimes being too nice can make a guy really creepy...or seem too needy.
Report
Makes perfect sense to me.
Report
I'm glad it makes sense, lol
Report
You know, I have to think. It's not an easy answer to pick up. As for now the only situation I could think off when the nice guy could be too nice is when he is mugged and gives out his valet with a smile.

Report
There isn't enough nice in the world...I say you can never be too nice.
