***A-chan's FAQ Page*** Jan 9, 2008, 23:45:35
It is very important that you read through all of this before ordering anything from me. I will not be held responsible if you fail to read the entire FAQ. Do you sell your plushes? Yes. All of the plushes that are currently available for sale are listed in my latest dA journal. Do you do commissions? Yes. Please check my latest dA journal to see if I'm currently available to do them. Do you do art trades? I am not currently available for art trades at this time. When I am available to do them, they will be only be available to people that are on my Watch List. The complete list of people can be found in my Shoutboard if you are uncertain about who you are. Why are art trades only available to people on your watch list? I have had problems with people in the past regarding art trades. Some of them had the tendency to go through all of the arrangements just to later cancel the entire thing. Other times, I get inquiries from people with artwork that genuinely does not interest me. I will not go into the details in regards to that. Because of those reasons, I have decided to limit art trades to only people that are on my watch list. People that I am familiar with and vice versa are usually more inclined with stick with an art trade. They also have artwork that interests me, which is why I watch them. :3 Will you do requests? No. I don't have time to fulfill people's requests. When I'm not doing commissions, I have my own list of characters that I want to make. If you want me to make you a plush, then you will have to pay me to do it. Do you do trades? No. Please do not ask. What paying methods do you accept? I accept Paypal, Money Orders, and Cashier's Checks. Why do you charge so much? My prices are based on time, labor, and the cost of supplies. I make these plushes by myself with no outside help. I draft the pattern, cut the fabric, sew the pieces together, stuff them, and add all of the other details. On average, I spend a minimum of 10-20 hours on each plush. I also use the highest quality fabrics available to me, which can cost anywhere from $9.99-$29.99 a yard and sometimes even more than that. If you don't like my prices, then you are more than welcome to find someone else that'll do the work for a lower price. I will not lower my prices just because you don't like them. I feel that my prices are fair and that I deserve the amount that I charge for my plushes. Why don't you just use cheaper fabrics like felt so the prices can be lower? Because I don't like working with cheap fabrics like felt. I use higher quality, nicer, softer fabrics to ensure that my plushes will be durable and live a longer life. Again, you are more than welcome to find someone else that'll do the work for a lower price. Just remember that you get what you pay for. If I provide the fabric, will you make my plush out of it and will the plush be cheaper that way? No, and no. I will not accept fabric provided by the customer. I very strongly prefer to only work with fabrics that I picked out myself. Plus, I don't know where the fabric that you have has been, or how old it is. I will only work with brand-new fabrics that I know are safe for my plushes. The same goes for all the other supplies that I use such as needles, thread, pins, stuffing, etc. May I specify what fabrics I want you to use on my plush? Yes, to an extent. Please keep in mind that there are certain fabrics that I will not use. This is because either: 1) The fabric is very cheap and low in quality. 2) I am allergic to the fabric. 3) The fabric sheds/frays excessively. Examples of fabrics that apply to the first statement are felt and muslin, leather and pleather apply to the second statement, and cotton and satin apply to the third statement. Please note that these are just examples. The first and third lists are longer than that. Will you use this pattern? *gives you a link/file* No. I will not use a pattern that someone else made, especially not for a paid commission. All of the patterns that I use are ones that I have created from scratch. If it is not a type of plush that I have created already, then new pattern pieces will be made right on the spot as the plush progresses. Do your plushes have removable clothing? None of the clothing on my plushes is removable unless specified. Will you make my plush with removable clothing? Yes. Please keep in mind that it will cost extra. A lot more work goes into a plush with removable clothing than you may think. Sometimes, it'll take more than three times the amount of work that'll go into a plush with non-removable clothing. Basically, I will charge you for the actual plush, and will charge additional amounts per removable outfit that you want your plush to have. The pricing on the removable clothing depends on the overall complexity of the outfit. Will you do original characters and/or real life people? Yes. All that I ask is that your reference pics are in chibi form. It'll make the whole plush-making process much easier and the transaction will run much more smoothly. Please keep in mind that I will not make plushes of political figures or religious figures. Will you make me a plush based on a description of the character(s)? No. I need to see reference pics of them. No exceptions will be made. Will you teach me how to sew? No. I am not a teacher. And I do not intend to give out any info on my plush-making methods. I want to keep my own designs to myself. Will you give me a pattern? Again, the answer is a very firm no. I work very hard on my patterns. I spend painstaking hours of time and labor making them just right. I will not just simply hand those patterns out to total strangers. And before you ask, no, I will not sell them either. Are your plushes safe for children? My plushes are not meant for children under the age of 12. They are meant for light-handling and for display only. They are not meant to be used as toys at all. Afterall, they are not toys. Do you have wholesale prices available? No. I make these plushes completely by hand with no outside help and need to compensate for my time, labor, and the cost of supplies. What I do is art, not sweatshop labor. I saw so-in-so who was for sale in your dA journal, but they're not available anymore. I want them! I am more than willing to redo characters, just don't expect them to look just like the previous one. I want all of my plushes to remain as unique as possible. *comments on deviation* Is this one for sale? Please do not post a comment on one of my deviations asking this question, and please read the description before you ask the question. This particular question is ALWAYS answered in the description of the deviation. It'll either say it's part of my private collection, it's my half of an art trade, or it's a commission. All of these translate to NOT FOR SALE. If it does happen to say 'For Sale', then you are more than welcome to send me a note about it. Do you make weapons for your plushes? I can, but it will cost extra depending on the overall complexity of the weapon. How long does it take you to make a plush? It entirely depends on what kind of plush you're referring to. For example, it takes me roughly an hour to make a Chibi Kitsune, while on the other hand, it takes me 10-20+ hours to make a human/humanoid character. So, if you were to order a Chibi Kitsune, it would be completed and shipped out to you within a week. If you were to order a human/humanoid character, it would be completed and shipped out to you somewhere between 2-6 weeks depending on what my schedule is like. I almost always complete the easier commissions first. Sometimes, I'll work on my commissions in the order that I receive them. It really depends on what each commissioner ordered, and when they need their plush(es). A lot of the time, it is that key factor that determines what order I work on my commissions. Please note that this is just an estimate of how long it'll take to make the plush. If I have a very busy schedule and you're on the bottom of the list, it is very likely that you'll have to wait several months for your order to be completed. You also have to keep in mind that I'm a high school student, and my schoolwork is my priority. I need my plush for *insert special occasion here* That can be done. All that I ask is that you order at least a month in advance if you need it by a certain time. If you are ordering 2 or more plushes, then I need to know at least 2 months in advance. Why do I have to provide reference pictures, especially when *you* should already know what this character looks like? First of all, you should NEVER assume that I know what a character looks like, no matter how mainstream they may be. Second of all, I am not required to know what every single character out there looks like, and I should not have to hunt down pictures for you when you are the one that wants a plushie of the character. If you want the character to be made, then *you* need to be the one to provide the reference pics. The more you provide, the better. If I have to hunt down reference pics of the character that you would like to have made, then I will charge you a $10 fee for my time. No, I am not kidding. That is time that I should be spending working on more important things, like the commissions from people that actually sent me reference pics, for instance. I want to know the status on my order. Please check the Progress Chart which is listed in my latest DA journal. It shows what percentage of work I have completed on each of the plushes that I'm working on, and it is updated regularly. If you ask me about the status of your order, then you will be directed to the Progress Chart. Please note that if you fail to check the Progress Chart and choose to excessively ask me about status, then your order will be cancelled and you will be blacklisted. To be blunt, the time that I spend answering your messages is time that can be spent working on your order. If you want your order to be done within a reasonable amount of time, then please just wait it out. It will be done when it is done. Do you offer refunds? No. The only exception is if the plush gets damaged or lost in the mail. How do I know I can trust you? Please check my 100% positive feedback on ebay. [link] If you still feel uneasy about sending me money, then you probably shouldn't be buying anything online in the first place. ^_^; Why do I have to send payment first? Allow me to ask you this. How do I know I can trust you? Chances are, you probably don't have an online record for being a good buyer, and even if you do, I refuse to send out orders before being compensated for them. It is my work, and I feel that I should be paid for my hard work before I let it leave my hands. If I constantly bug you about my order, will it get done any faster? No. That'll just annoy me and cause your order to be cancelled without a refund. You will also be blacklisted if you do this. Please wait patiently for your order to be completed. Do you accept CODs (cash on delivery)? No. I will not send anything out until I have received payment in full. Can I pay you after the plush is finished? No. I will not work on a commission without payment first. I can't pay the full amount upfront. Do you do payment plans? Yes, I can do payment plans. Please keep in mind the first payment you send to me HAS to cover the cost of supplies (amount will vary from plush to plush). From there, additional payments can be made at any time. The only catch is that you have to have the full amount paid within 2 weeks after I complete your order. However, if for some reason you cannot do that, I will just hold onto your order until it is fully paid for. Once you've fully paid for it, I will send it out to you. ^^ I've already paid for my order, but I would like a different character now. Sorry, no can do. If your original character choice has already been approved and you have already paid for it, then you may not change your character. No exceptions will be made. I would like to cancel my transaction with you. You are more than welcomed to do so. However, if you are commissioning me, then you will not receive a refund for your order. If you have arranged an art trade with me, then it will just be cancelled. Anyone that chooses to cancel a transaction with me will be blacklisted, which basically means that you will no longer be allowed to start another transaction with me. It should also be noted that the cancelling of transactions with me is considered rude and annoying. That is part of the reason why I do not offer refunds on commissions. If I cleverly reword an already-answered question, will I get a different answer? No. Please only ask a question that is not already answered here. My question was not answered here, how can I contact you? You may send me a note, or email me with your question. ^^ fangirl_of_anime@yahoo.com Do not ask your question(s) in a comment on one of my deviations, on my front page, in response to a journal entry, or in a comment on one of my polls. It will be ignored. You will only get a response from me if you send me a note or email me. All terms and conditions listed in this FAQ are subject to change without notice.
